Bitter kola, also known as Garcinia kola, is a species of flowering plant belonging to the Mangosteen genus Garcinia of the family Clusiaceae. It is found in Benin, Cameroon, The Gambia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ivory Coast, Guinea, Mali, Gabon, Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria, Senegal and Sierra Leone. 
It offers a range of potential health benefits, including antioxidant, anti-diabetic, and cardiovascular effects. It has also been traditionally used for digestive issues, liver protection, and as a potential aphrodisiac.
